Most of us don’t spend a lot of time worried about who owns wild animals. That’s because in the true wild, those animals aren’t owned by anyone. Sometimes statutes will control how ownership of a wild animal is obtained. Without that, the animal is owned when it is dominated by someone. This domination could come if it is killed, subdued, gentled, or caged. In those cases the person has exercised dominion and control over the animal.
